Space

In this section all space realted information needed to satisfy the Exchange Energy Analysis Model (Zones) will be described.

Type

Where spaces have not been designated as being of a particular type, this must be done. It is assumed that space type data is available within a space type data library and that this will be applied in defining then types of individual spaces. Creation of the space type library for a project is out of scope for this exchange requirement.

A space must be assigned a locally unique name. This may specifically identify an architecturally defined room number or code e.g. 2/262. For sketch design, name is optional; need not be provided as it does not contribute anything specific for energy analysis. However, for full concept and beyond, the name must be provided. In consequence, it is identified as recommended throughout all project stages within this exchange requirement.     Building Design, Energy and Comfort Advisor Model Space (FP)
A space must be assigned a type to which it conforms. The preferred solution is that an object type attribute is used.     Building Design, Energy and Comfort Advisor Model Space (FP)
A space must be assigned a description. This is an extended name which describes the purpose of the space e.g. Reijo's Meeting Room. For RIUSKA, the description must be provided at sketch stage and at all stages beyond.     Building Design, Energy and Comfort Advisor Model Space (FP)
The composition of the space as a multiple (complex), complete room (element) or part of a room (partial) must be asserted.     Building Design, Energy and Comfort Advisor Model Space (FP)
Indication of whether the space is inside or outside the building. Generally, it is considered that spaces that are defined as being outside the building will not participate in energy analysis.     Building Design, Energy and Comfort Advisor Model Space (FP)

Extended type

A space may conform to more than one type specification depending on the purposes for which it is being considered. For instance, a space may conform to a particular HVAC space type or a particular electrical space type. If this information has not already been added within the relevant process, it may be added within the energy analysis process.

Need to add a Pset_SpaceExtendedType which includes propeorties for HVACSpaceType and ElectricalSpaceType as addition to the main ObjectType for a space.

Assert additional space types. Additional space type designations should conform to published space type conventions where possible. For instance, HVAC space types may be defined according to ASHRAE conventions.     Energy and Comfort Advisor, [Electrical Design], [HVAC Design]

Aggregation

For partial spaces that are contained within complete (elemental) rooms, the relationship to the element must be asserted. This will be required in cases where an elemental space is broken down into sub-spaces for the purposes of energy analysis (e.g. where a room space contains sub-spaces that are respectively parts of core and perimeter energy/HVAC/lighting zones).

Information Needed Man Opt Rec Actor Supplying Functional Part
Assert the elemental space within which the partial spaces are aggregated.     Energy and Comfort Advisor Aggregates (FP)
Assert the partial spaces that are aggregated into the elemental space.     Energy and Comfort Advisor Aggregates (FP)

Usage

Where not already provided through the building model, the usage of the space must be defined. For energy analysis purposes, this means defining the profiles for occupancy, lighting and equipment use to determine their contribution to energy load and/or consumption.

Usage profiles are defined as time series data in which the number of items contributing to energy and the times at which they contribute must be asserted.     Building Design, Energy and Comfort Advisor Schedule Time Series (FP)
