Zone

In this section all zone realted information needed to satisfy the Exchange Energy Analysis Model (Zones) will be described.

Spaces

Spaces must be grouped into zones for optimization of thermal performance of the building and technical solutions.

Where the energy analysis needs to deal with spaces that do not exist as room spaces (or sub-spaces) within the building design then these need to be created by the energy and comfort advisor. Such spaces include those required for energy zoning (such as perimeter and core spaces) and the grouping of these into zones. Where such spaces are created, the energy and comfort advisor will also need to ensure that they are related as partial spaces to the elemental building design space within which they occur (see above).

Spaces zoned for energy analysis typically represent control zones for the maintenance of particular conditions (control zones operate under the same controls regime for energy use/consumption). Each control zone will be a sub-part of an HVAC zone and may also be a sub-part of a lighting zone. As such, reconciliation between HVAC zones and lighting zones may be required and may bring into existence a number of specific control zones.
