Cost Item (Ancillary)

Information below is provided by the role Cost Modelling through the functional part fp_model_cost_item

Cost items that deal with specifically assigned costs such as preliminaries, external works, contingencies etc. should be individually identified and assigned to the 'head' object in the model to be used for costing. Typically, this is expected to be the project. Cost item information includes:

Information Needed MAN REC OPT
Each cost item should have the unit cost basis identified as a context dependant unit and be identified as 'ITEM'.
Units should not be asserted.

The value of the cost item should be asserted.
For 'preliminary appraisal' costing, the value of the cost item will be the value asserted for the cost value associated with the cost item.

Each cost item should be named according to a defined list of cost item names.
Cost item names may include such items as:
  • Preliminaries
  • Contingency
  • Provisional Sum
  • Etc.

Each cost item used may have a further description associated to elaborate the meaning of the item.
Each cost value captured within the cost item must also have a type assigned.
For 'preliminary appraisal' costing, the type of the cost value and the name of the cost item will probably be declared equivalent.

The date on which the cost value is applicable should be asserted.
If there is a limit to the time for which a cost is applicable, it should also be asserted.
