Overview

The scope of this exchange requirement is cost modelling stage 4 - Detailed Estimate.
That is, the cost model is based on the elements that are expected to be incorporated within the construction of the building and ancillary services associated with that construction. The unit cost basis of each type of element will be defined by a set of rules that are typically provided in a standard method of measurement whose use has been agreed for the project.

This exchange requirement is an interim step between a cost model that uses cost values having a degree of uncertainty to one that has cost values based on certainty (by virtue of being derived from a price list, quotation or other definite source).
The basic definition for this exchange requirement in terms of quantities, descriptions and the build up of cost items and cost schedules is the same as that for the 'er_exchange_cost_model (preconstruction_estimate) exchange requirement with the exception that a request for quotation explicitly omits the provision of cost values and cost impact factors.

Note that specific requests for quotation may be required for particular element groupings either as sections of a whole request or as separate requests. For example, the distribution elements forming the building services system may be within a different request for quotation to the building and structural elements.

Information Requirements

Note that all information requirements applicable to the 'Request for Quotation' stage are the same as those applicable at the 'Preconstyruction Estimate' stage with the exception that Cost Impact Factors are not relevant in a 'Request for Quotation'.
