IDM Themes
This Page And All Child Pages In This Section Are Under Development
In IDM, a theme is a family of IDM components that provides a complete information definition over the defined process. For example, a theme might include:
- energy analysis
- cost management
- electrical design
- etc.
Each theme includes:
- one or more process maps (but typically one only)
- several exchange requirements as defined by the process map(s)
- various functional parts that provide services to the exchange requirements
Note that a theme may include several sets of business rules. However, business rules are typically used to localize exchange requirements and are therefore included under Regional IDM Developments.
The following themes are currently developed in IDM:
- Cost Modelling — Incorporates all IDM components that are concerned with the development of cost models that assess the predicted or submitted cost of a project at different points during the lifecycle.
- Electrical Engineering — Incorporates all IDM components that are about the development, design and installation of electrical power and lighting systems.
- Energy Analysis — Incorporates all IDM components that are concerned with energy analysis.
- Facilities Management — Incorporates all IDM components that are about facilities management where facilities management deals with operation and maintenance following the completion of construction.
- HVAC Engineering — Incorporates all IDM components that are about the development, design, fabrication and installation of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
- Piping Engineering — Incorporates all IDM components that are about the development, design, fabrication and installation of piping systems.
- Structural Engineering — Incorporates all IDM components that are about the design, analysis, modelling, fabrication and installation of structural systems. Includes structural considerations for steel, concrete (precast and in-situ) and timber.
