Jenny works as an Energy Analyst for a consulting company. Her services are offered to construction companies in need of analysing the energy performance of their buildings, both new and existing. One large part of her normal job involvolves creating a Building Information Model (BIM) suitable for an energy analysis. One day she gets a slightly request from a Norwegian construction company. They challenge her to use their model when doing the important energy analysis. In addition they do not only want the analysis to be performed during design phase, but throughout the whole project.
Jenny is concerned about trusting the construction company as her previous expericence with using other peoples models. Often she does not get the models on time and when she finally gets them they lack important information she need to produce reliable results. However this construction comany has a suggestion and introduce her to the concept of Contracted Data Interchange. This means that the contract in addition to the normal clauses also contains a detailed descrption of the information the company are responsible of proving as well as a detailed description of the results Jenny is expected to deliver back to the company for each project phase.
